IFA NATIONAL COMMITTEE ON FRANCHISING IN GEMS & JEWELLERY SECTOR

Gems and Jewellery Sector plays a pivotal role in world’s economy. It was always valued as a mode of saving and investment vehicle. Unlike earlier days it is now on demand for exports also. But this mushrooming sector is still concentrated as the unorganized sector. Franchising of Gems and Jewellery sector would harness and harmonize it as a organized sector. The IFA National Committee on Franchising in Gems & Jewellery Sector seeks to explore the various matters and issues concerning to this particular industry and will liaison with different stakeholders and governmental bodies to make it an organized sector. The committee then endeavors to promote and expand it as a mainstream industry. The committee in engages manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers and exporters.

The terms of reference for the IFA’s National Committee on Gems & Jewellery Sector for 2011-2012 are

  • To create a strong brand visibility for Gems & Jewellery sector through franchising in India over the next two years.
  • To advocate National council to conduct regular interactions with the Government at the Centre and the State level to highlight the issues and concerns of Gems & Jewellery sector; to recommend to the government, investor and Franchisors
  • To facilitate access to global markets and finance/ Credit for Gems & Jewellery sector.
  • To formulate methods to improve the competitiveness of the Gems & Jewellery sector in India with regard to restructuring, productivity enhancement, increasing exports etc.
  • To assist small and medium enterprises in Gems & Jewellery sector with high potential to invest.
  • To promote the Indian Gems & Jewellery brands in overseas markets and devise strategies to gain access to developed/ developing markets through Franchising.
  • To have a proactive dialogue with the Government to further identify various policy issues that need to be addressed in order to stimulate growth of the Gems & Jewellery sector in India..
  • To professionalize and educate people in the franchise industry through research studies, surveys, meetings, seminars, workshops for Gems & Jewellery sector etc.
  • To liaise with various related organizations, industry associations, financial institutions, government department on matters concerning the industry.
  • To provide the legal information and current statistics on franchising
  • To make the matchmaking between the foreign franchisors who are eager to enter into Indian market and the potential investors who are interested in purchasing the franchise rights in India for Gems & Jewellery sector.
