Amul to strengthen its franchise network

Amul Ice Cream, a Gujarat based ice cream brand is all set to launch 1,000 Amul Scooping Parlours and 2,500 Amul Preferred Outlets (APOs) across the nation by the end of this fiscal year. These outlets will be opened through franchise route, confirms the company official.   

Besides this, the company is also planning to add 15, 000 retail outlets to its network of 70,000 outlets by the year end. To meet the growing demands of Amul ice cream, the company is planning to add one more manufacturing unit in Pondicherry. Presently, it has manufacturing units at Gandhinagar, Palanpur, Anand and Vadodara in Gujarat, Nagpur and in metros like Bengaluru, Chennai, Kolkata, Delhi.  

Presently, the company supports 300 Scooping Parlours and 4,500 APOs in the country. The company owns a share of 38 per cent in the branded ice cream market. The branded ice cream market in the country is estimated to be 150 million liter per annum valued at Rs1, 200 crore.  

Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) that markets brand Amul has recently launched five flavours — mast melon, pineapple masti, nuts bout u, fruit fusion, and royal butter scotch in party packs and cups. Further, the company is going to add new flavours through limited edition offer.
