Tours and Travels sector as one of the largest foreign revenue earning sector attracts the governmental and other stakeholders attention. It is undergoing massive expansion and improvement. Franchising will provide significant solutions as a mode to exploit the promising opportunities in this sector. The IFA National Committee on Franchising in Tour & Travel Sector recognizes the importance of tours and travels sector in the economic growth of the country and proposes to add to its growth by bringing together all the stakeholders under one roof. The committee comprises of Government tourism departments, Immigration and customs services, travel agencies, airlines, tour operators, hotels, airline catering or laundry services, Guides, Interpreters, Tourism promotion and sales etc.

The terms of reference for the IFA’s National Committee on Tour & Travel Sector for 2011-2012 are

  • To create a strong brand visibility for Tour & Travel sector through franchising in India over the next two years.
  • To advocate National council to conduct regular interactions with the Government at the Centre and the State level to highlight the issues and concerns of Tour & Travel sector; to recommend to the government, investor and Franchisors
  • To facilitate access to global markets and finance/ Credit for Tour & Travel sector.
  • To formulate methods to improve the competitiveness of the Tour & Travel sector in India with regard to restructuring, productivity enhancement, increasing exports etc.
  • To assist small and medium enterprises in Tour & Travel sector with high potential to invest.
  • To promote the Indian Tour & Travel brands in overseas markets and devise strategies to gain access to developed/ developing markets through Franchising.
  • To have a proactive dialogue with the Government to further identify various policy issues that need to be addressed in order to stimulate growth of the Tour & Travel sector in India..
  • To professionalize and educate people in the franchise industry through research studies, surveys, meetings, seminars, workshops for Tour & Travel sector etc.
  • To liaise with various related organizations, industry associations, financial institutions, government department on matters concerning the industry.
  • To provide the legal information and current statistics on franchising
  • To make the matchmaking between the foreign franchisors who are eager to enter into Indian market and the potential investors who are interested in purchasing the franchise rights in India for Tour & Travel sector.
